Guide To Using Instagram To Grow Followers

Guide To Using Instagram To Grow Followers

How do I grow my followers? It’s a question that comes up regularly. I receive direct messages from friends and family. People I come across that are not in the industry always ask how did it start. Maybe mostly out of curiosity but also to learn strategies for their own accounts…

I say strategies because a large percentage of Instagram users (I’m sure you follow a few on your accounts) have a large following and it is possible to earn money, gain opportunities, jobs, or meet new people. This is all very clear when you see the amount of sponsored opportunities that pop up. Or notice how your favorite Instagrammer starts going to the Brit awards and receiving 100’s of free packages. Who would not want that?

So there is a strategy to this. Instagram is an app that has an algorithm and is systemically controlled. So basically it chooses if your post is pushed out to a large percentage of your followers depending on if they click on your profile regularly or not. If you use the correct techniques you can get more engagement, reach more accounts and grow your followers.

how to grow my followers

Simple Steps – Grow My Followers!

  • Always use the maximum amount of hashtags for each post, 30. This gives you more of a chance to feature on the Top Post’s page for each hashtag. So your more likely to increases your chances of your content being seen.
  • Try and use hashtags with a different range of posts. Avoid the large ones, 1 million or over. Try and stick to hashtags with 20k-500k posts to reach a range of audiences effectively.

Posting Regularly

  • The more you post, the more accounts are going to engage with you and the more you potentially reach.
  • Your current followers have more content, which hopefully makes them engage more with your content and continue following 🙂 yay

Engage With Other Account’s

  • Think about the type of content you post. If it’s fitness, food, fashion, selfies. Whatever it is. Then engage with account’s similar to whatever your posting.
  • The more you engage with account’s in your niche the more chance they will engage back or even follow!

Create Quality Content

  • If you want to use Instagram correctly, quit posting photo’s you would send to your friend via WhatsApp on Instagram. Play around with photoshop apps, make the photo pop and catch your eye. Use bright colours.
  • Think about angles, themes, colours, prints, background’s. Anywhere for a photo opportunty!

Instagram is a business tool

A lot of business and brands use Instagram for marketing, to gain leads, to promote or reach a certain audience and they are actually prioritizing Instagram over other forms of marketing. If you have instagram anyway and have the potential to grow a following. Why would you not?

I also heard that you need to comment on folks’ posts with 5 or more words (and not JUST with emojis) to be more successful. I am not sure if there’s truth to that or not, but when I am motivated to respond to someone’s post, I try to put a little more effort into it by adding a few more words (when I would have formerly have just left a smiley face). I can’t say my followers have shot Up because of it, but I can tell that the people whose posts I am responding to appreciate it and tend to always respond back—which was more than to my previous emoji only responses. Thanks for sharing valuable info.

I think comments that have less than 4 words can come across as spammy to instagram. So they may think your engagement is not authentic. If you comment on others pages with 4+ words, they will for sure notice, and your comment will usually show up on their page as ‘top comments’ which can help you reach further people x

    Such great tips!
I launched my blog and my instagram this month and tried some of these strategies but, I’m not gaining as I expected to.
I have prepared 15 Instagram posts like a puzzle and I already planned to post them every 3 days. I have only posted 3 pictures so far but I only have gained 17 followers. I think it’s because my page looks boring ad it takes long to post these 15 posts to make my page look eye catching.
I thought about posting all the 15 posts at once so if someone finds my page by hashtags, they would like and follow me.
    What’s your opinion?

I think you should post once a day, sticking to your theme and puzzle! Using hashtags and also start engaging with similar accounts in your niche and their followers. They should notice your page and engage with you once you post more content. best of luck 🙂 x
